Wahrashi Falls

The Wahrashi Falls, located in the remote* area of Syntung Village, East Khasi Hills (EKH), Meghalaya is a beautiful place with multiple waterfalls.

We say that it’s located in the remote area of EKH even though it’s only about 60 km away from Shillong, the Capital of Meghalaya (2 Hours 30 mins trip), because there is actually no good roads to get there and only Heavy vehicles like Trucks, Buses, Sumo, Geeps, SUVs and other 4x4 wheel drive vehicles can easily go through the road, even though there are some areas that have actual roads but you have to take an Hour (1 hour) drive through the bumpy off-roads before reaching Syntung (from Jatah-Syntung).
We came there on the 30th of December 2016 and it was definitely a great day out.
It will take you 2.5 to 3 Hours to reach there, but it is worth it as the natural environment there is absolutely great, it’s clean and has several natural attractions (both flora and fauna) other than the waterfalls and clean rivers.
Going there during the summer/monsoon will be difficult but that is when the waterfalls are flowing at their fullest and the surrounding is covered with green plants of all kinds.

What is The Wahrashi Falls?

The Wahrashi Falls/Kshaid is a waterfall along with several waterfalls in one location in syntung village under Mawkynrew C&RD Block.
There are more than 5 waterfalls (8 in total) just in this location and good for explorers who want to see them all.
It’s a great place to spend the whole entire day for a Picnic, Trekking, Camping and taking pictures with everyone.
On reaching the Parking area of The Tourist spot, we have to take a short walk thought the footpaths and
Footpath Before Reaching the First Viewpoint
reach the First Viewpoint overlooking the waterfalls from a far, on heading down the footpath we get a closer view of the waterfalls and on reaching down, there is a clean running river with a scary bamboo bridge to cross the river, if you’re afraid then you can take the concrete bridge to cross the river.

While heading towards the Third Viewpoint on another hill top we are greater with another Waterfall as seen in the next Picture.

You can definitely spend the entire day exploring the area and see all eight waterfalls.

Rocky Trail

There is also a rocky trail from across the river after crossing the river through the concrete bridge and a different view awaits you from the top.

Coming back to the Parking area we saw God's Rock (Maw Blei) from a far, the sun was about to set and it shine directly on the camera therefore it was difficult to get a clear shot.
